The New England Patriots signed free agent quarterback Brian Hoyer on Wednesday to serve as Tom Brady’s backup. The agreement to reunite Hoyer with his former team is a three-year deal https://www.steelersedgeshop.com/Steelers_James_Harrison_Jersey-59, according to multiple reports. Hoyer was released by San Francisco on Tuesday after the 49ers acquired quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo from New England in exchange for a 2018 second-round draft choice that left the Patriots without a backup for Brady. The 32-year-old Hoyer goes back to the franchise with which he first played from 2009 to 2011 as an undrafted player out of Michigan State. He served as Brady’s backup before making stops with the Pittsburgh Steelers , Arizona Cardinals , Cleveland Browns , Houston Texans , Chicago Bears and San Francisco 49ers . Hoyer joins the 40-year-old Brady as the lone quarterbacks on the Patriots’ roster. Hoyer, who signed a two-year free agent deal with the 49ers during the offseason, started the first six games of the 2017 season, completing 119 of 205 passes for 1,245 yards with four touchdowns and four interceptions. During his three seasons with the Patriots, Hoyer played in 13 games and completed 27 of 43 for 286 yards with one touchdown and one interception https://www.steelersedgeshop.com/Steelers_Dan_Mccullers_Jersey-30. Hoyer, who has 37 career starts, has thrown for 9,853 yards for 48 touchdowns and 30 interceptions in 55 total games.
