Alister is a counsellor working in the Napier & Hastings area of Hawkes Bay. He has around eight years’ experience in the social services, working initially in the prison system as an addictions counsellor. Alister has continued this work in addiction, with gambling, drug and alcohol being his focus for the last five years.
Within this work he encountered many of the issues which lead people to addiction, and has experience supporting people through the process of exploring their own experiences in life.
While he is of Pakeha decent, he considers himself to have a strong appreciation for all things Maori, and find himself comfortable in both worlds.
