Errol began working with clients affected by abuse and trauma in 1978 when she co-facilitated a group at Paparua Mens Prison for serious offenders, and found most had been affected by trauma in their early life. This group of men profoundly influenced her as a young woman in her twenties and she began to train to work with trauma. She worked as a probation officer for a long time, completing both social work and counselling training before coming into private practice. She was approved by ACC as a counsellor for sensitive claims in 1998. She is deeply committed to working with those who have experienced trauma, and with childhood sexual abuse in particular. She has also gained further insight from personal experience of the trauma of earthquakes, and in assisting clients who have been impacted by the events of the earthquakes in Christchurch.
